My daughter asks the questions. She’s not the rule follower I was. And there are no easy answers. Not to the important stuff.

Have we pretended there are? Have we deceived our children into thinking that if they hold tightly enough to the proof texts they won’t need to question?

Because the real answer is…

I don’t know.

It’s complicated.

But I’d be happy to wrestle with it alongside you.

But be ready, my dear. Because with questions come more questions.

And I’m not so sure we were meant to do more than wrestle.
