There will be days when we wonder if anything good will come out of this hard work of parenting. Days when one kid complains that her dress isn’t fancy enough and the other complains about leftover pizza and you wonder where you’ve gone wrong. Days when the constant bickering and occasional spitting make you cry in overwhelmed wonder at the task of raising decent human beings.

On these days, may we remember our own deep propensity to sin; our own stubborn hearts. May we rejoice in a God who patiently and lovingly draws us to himself. May we remember that he often uses uncomfortable circumstances to get us there. May we not grow weary in the awesome task of parenting our children to accept his grace and follow his path. And may we draw strength from him to parent in his ways.

How do you find strength to parent on one of those days?
